ABOUT US

ABOUT THE CEO
Ron Earl White, 42, is the founder, president and chief executive officer of The Rochester African-American Latino Entertainment Network, LLC, ("RAALEN"), Rochester, New York's only wholly minority-owned and operated television programming concern.

White, who came to the Rochester community in 1987, began his community-based efforts with the "Anti-Drug Posse," a group of students who toured Monroe County public schools systems, encouraging their peers to remain drug free. Most recently, he began a youth-focused speaking tour, presenting "The Spirit of Entrepreneurship & Academic Excellence" workshop for the Urban Action League Youth Employment Program. A partnership between Action for a Better Community and the Urban League of Rochester, the groups touted White's presentation as a "stellar performance."

His commitment to excellence is also exhibited in his work as board member for the William Warfield Scholarship Fund, developed as a means to help in the academic endeavors of Eastman School of Music students of color.

White adds that he owes his inspiration to the entrepreneurial spirit and the arts to people like local trailblazer Andrew Langston (WDKX Radio, Rochester, New York), Johnnie Cochran (famed legal mind), George Eastman (Eastman Kodak), Earle G. Graves (Black Enterprise Magazine), and John H. Johnson (Ebony and Jet Magazines).

RAALEN, White's latest independent endeavor, promises upcoming projects that promote "positive imagery" for the Rochester community—providing outlets that shine an optimistic, encouraging, and affirmative light on issues and subject matter that impacts the viewers. White has assembled a production team to develop program offerings that present entertainment, community and business news that will serve to enlighten residents. It will refrain from apathy stories that glorify urban stigmas: murder, drugs, and violence. Instead, it will focus on the positive aspects of city life, most often neglected by local and national media.
